Fictional Case Study

Context:  This training is designed for entry level managers that lead teams ranging from 5-30 employees.

Challenges: A fictional company reports data from recent employee satisfaction surveys have dropped.  Data reveals an increase in employee stress levels, as well as decreased employee focus and engagement.  It is also noted that multiple management roles have recently been filled with employees new to leadership positions.

Solutions: This training targets  entry level managers needing extra support as they shift to new leadership roles.  This training will first introduce managers to a 6 step process for setting expectations for their team.  Next, the majority of the training will provide participants with the opportunity to walk through each step.  Participants will walk away having developed a clear plan for implementation that is specific to the needs of their team.

Results: Follow-up surveys (1 month, 3 month, and 6 month post training) reveal a reduction in employee stress levels, as well as increased employee focus and engagement.  The implementation of this 6 step process has helped managers become more effective leaders.

Evaluation: In order to address Kirkpatrick's Levels of Evaluation, multiple assessment strategies are utilized.

Level 1: A course evaluation will provide feedback for training improvement, as well as information regarding reactions of learners

Level 2: A summative assessment was developed for participant's to test new knowledge at the end of the training

Level 3: Impacts on performance will be measured through future performance evaluations and informal observations of new managers that have received the training

Level 4: Follow up employee survey data will reveal impact of the overall training
